The Confectionery Bank
Kyser & Rex Company Frankford, PA - Circa 1880's Magnificent Restored The Confectionery Bank is the only toy bank which rewards its operator for saving pennies. Through a hidden door found on the back of the bank, thin Necco wafer candies could be loaded. Every time a penny is deposited, one of these sweet sucking candies was dispensed. The creative output of Kyser & Rex demonstrates a flair for composition and narrative that has no equal among other toy bank manufacturers. They fashion miniature environments that feel so complete and perfectly realized that they become timeless. Even today, the viewer is able to nostalgically ponder what it must have felt like to visit the confectionery shop and buy some penny candies.
