Leaf with Interesting Inscription by Chacham Ezra Attiah

Flyleaf of a book that bears an interesting inscription written by Chacham Ezra Attiah, rosh yeshivah of Porat Yosef: "Our rabbis taught: A person should always write his name on his book lest a person come from the market ... and say that it is his. I have therefore written my name on my book, the youth Ezra Attiah."

The text on this leaf was traditionally written on books in the past, in different variations, primarily in the Yemenite and Oriental diaspora.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Chacham Ezra Attiah.

[1] scrap of paper, approximately 12x17 cm.
