Levushei Sarad [Russia-Poland, 1830] Parchment Binding
Levushei Sarad on the halachahs of shmittat v'shevirat ha'atzamot, re'ah, laws of Yoreh Deah (abbreviation: 'SaRa"D'). Renowned book by the gaon Rabbi David Shlomo Eibshutz, author of Arvei Nacha"l and one of the patriarchs of Chassidism. [Russia-Poland, 1830] Two glosses on page 41b. Provenance: Vinograd collection.
The book Levushei Sarad, which the author began writing while still in the Diaspora, was completed by Rabbi Shlomo David when he was already in the Land of Israel, and was sent abroad for printing. He also received approbations for its publication. Levushei Sarad was the only work by him printed in his lifetime. The book was accepted by rabbinic leaders to the extent that there were those who did not grant rabbinic ordination to students who were not expert in Levushei Sarad as well.
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the gaon Rabbi David Shlomo Eibeshutz.
