Document from the Tripoli Beit Din Signed by Rabbi Yitzchak Chai Bukavzah, Chief Rabbi of Tripoli, 1927

Rabbi Yitzchak Chai Bukavzah (1853-1930) was the chief rabbi of Tripoli, a Kabbalist and a songwriter. Already in his youth, he wrote songs, and served as rabbi in various places. In 1925, he was appointed chief rabbi of Tripoli, its Av Beit Din, and leader of Libyan rabbis.

He was famous for visiting the Vatican cellars, where, according to rumour, he saw the Temple treasures.

[1] leaf, 27 cm, official stationery of the Beit Din Tzedek - Tripoli. In addition to Rabbi Bukavzah, Rabbi Rachamim Agiv and another dayan also signed.
