A letter from RABBI ZALMAN YAAKOV FRIEDERMAN. Boston Massachusetts 1929.
Rabbi Zalman Jacob Friederman (c.1865-1935), American rabbi. He was born in Merkine a suburb of Vilna and educated in Kovna and other famous Lithuanian yeshivot. He emigrated to the United States in 1892 with the hundreds of rabbis, most of them young, Lithuanian, and products of that province's famous yeshivot. These rabbis became the core of America's Jewish Orthodox movement of the 19th century. R. Friederman was accepted as the Chief Rabbi of Boston's United congregations of Boston, where he served until his passing.
