Ancient Greece > Cappadocia > Ariobarzanes I Philoromaios, 96-63 BC: AR Drachm (4.05g, 18mm); diademed head facing right / Athena standing facing left, holding Nike and spear, resting left hand on shield & legend on 3 sides BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΡIOBAΡZANOY ΦIΛOΡΩMAIOY, OTA-like monogram in left field, date KD in exergue (RY24 = 72/1 BC). References: BMC 13; SNG v. Aulock 6323; cf Sear 7300-7302; medallic alignment; GVF/AEF, obverse off center but complete, reverse well centered & slightly concaved; well struck with excellent detail & good luster.
