Great Revolt / First Jewish-Roman War (66-73 CE) era AE Pruta coin variant/trial piece (67-69 CE): unusual 18.5 x 19mm, 3.45g AE coin exhibiting the basic design features of a period AE Pruta, with amphora on the obverse side and vine leaf with tendril on the reverse - except that the visible letters of the legends (and their order) on both sides do not adhere to those known on the year 2 or 3 issues or their documented variants; the piece also appears over-struck on an existing coin flan (evidenced by the small letters OY visible on outer upper edge of the reverse, possible ΔOY - common on Herodian era coins, and the apparent double dotted borders visible on the right and top of the reverse).

Other anomalies include the unusual [inner-] border just below the amphora but the larger letters appearing outside its boundary, and the unclear imprints to the left and right of the amphora - all unlike standard Pruta strikes, and possibly signs of the overstruck coin. Most unusual is the right-downward sloping stalk & the leaf-stem originating from the left side of it - unseen on any Pruta strikes. General reference: Hendin 1360/1363 & their variants, but undocumented as here; good-fine and rare, coin alignment at slight rotation.
