Roman Empire > Hadrian, 117-138 AD: AR Denarius (18 x 19mm, 3.45g), struck circa 134-138 AD; laureate head (neck only, no shoulder detail) facing right & legend HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P (with elongated I in Hadrianus & cropped small CAPs at end of legend) / Salus standing facing right, holding sceptre and sacrificing from patera over a lighted altar & legend SALVS AVG (with retrograde L in Salus). Undocumented die combination: as RIC II 267 for reverse design and as RIC II 269 for obverse without shoulders; EF, nicely struck and centered on a ragged flan, with full legends; nice bright metal & well detailed portrait; coin alignment.
