CHARLES SIDNEY WINDER
(1829-1862) Confederate Brigadier General given command of the 'Stonewall Brigade' by its namesake, killed in action at the Battle of Cedar Mountain. Extremely rare signature 'Chas. S. Winder' in black ink as a West Point cadet on a 2.5 x 1.25 in. slip of paper cut from an autograph album, adding his hometown 'Easton Maryland'. Shows some brushing to the middle initial, else very good.
