Handwritten rhyming dictionary, in alphabetical order, with many supplements in later hands. North Africa, 19th century.
243 leaves (213-243 are blank). Long and narrow manuscript. 12x38 cm. Oriental script.
Rhyming dictionary arranged in alphabetical order. Each letter has a number of endings along with suggestions for rhyming words. This type of work was used to compose songs and hymns, and was sometimes even used by paytanim. A packet of amulets lays between the last pages, with segulot and hashbaot,  on various notepapers, in later hands from the middle of the 20th century.
Original, loose leather binding - blemished. Aging stains. Fine condition.
