Kuntress 'Mikveh Taharah' Regarding Mikvaos from the waters of the Nile River, Handwritten by Rav Refael Aharon Ben Shimon, Av Beis Din of Egypt.

A portion of the kuntress Mikveh Taharah is in the handwriting of Rav Refael Aharon Ben Shimon, author of Nahar Mitzrayim.

As is well-known, in Egypt it does not rain. All water is taken from the Nile River. The way a mikveh is built there, is: The water from the Nile would spread throughout Egypt underground. The Jews would dig extremely deep wells, until they would reach the water source. Building Mikvaos in such a manner meant going deep down into these deep pits- and this was very scary, even for men. Thus, Tevillas Nidda was almost not done!

Rav Refael Aharon invented a way to create Mikvaos in people's backyards, through the latest invention that started in those days- by a French company- of bringing water into people's homes via pipes. He sent this kuntress to the Rabbonim in Jerusalem, who gave their approval.

Incomplete kuntress, but it seems to contain most of the content. All is in the very handwriting of the author.

21 pages, [pages 1-20 and page 29]. Size: 16x20 cm. Good condition, important.

***Rav Refael Aharon mentioned this kuntress in his sefer "Nahar Mitzrayim" Hilchos Nidda page 250 (in the Machon Tuv Mitzrayim edition) and it was printed in its entirety in Responsa Umatzor Dvash, Yoreh Deah section 4.
