Rabbi Naftali Ashkenazi, one of the sages of Jerusalem and Safed, was the same generation as Rabbi Chaim Vital zy”a. In his later years, Rabbi Ashkenazi travelled to Venice and served as a Rabbi there. His Sefer Imrei Shefer explains the words of our Chachamim. His beautiful elucidations have been described as “sweeter than honey”. Rabbi Ashkenazi authored his Sefer upon arriving in Safed, and sent it for print to Venice. The Hebrew printing press in Safed, printed about six books, but closed in 1587. Rabbi Ashkenazi died in 1602. about a year after his book was printed. This book is of the only edition printed and Rabbi Ashkenzi did not merit to print additional books.
This copy includes annotations, explanations and copious corrections in Spanish.
