Commentary on the Book of Daniel by the famed Rabbi Moshe Alshich zt”l. Rabbi Moshe, who is referred to as ‘The Holy One’, was born to 1508 Adrianopol, and died in Safed, 1593-7. He was a student of Rabbi Yosef Karo and emigrated to Safed together with him. Rabbi Alshich was ordained by Rabbi Karo and served as a Dayan on his Bet Din. Rabbi Alshich was the teacher of Rabbi Chaim Vital zy”a, a student of the Ari. He dealt in Kabbala with the Baal Shem Tov.
In 1587, Rabbi Alshich journeyed to Damascus and on to Venice, in order to print his books. Before reaching Venice he stopped in Kushta, where he printed this book.
Rabbi Alshich’s books are foundational for those explaining Tanach. Like this book, many editions were printed of Rabbi Alshich’s commentaries. Rabbi Alshich edited this book while studying for Dayanut.
