With the passing of this Torah giant on 18 Tishrei 1898, the Gra’s sons and the members of Vilna’s Bet Din gathered to decide the particulars of how to finance and organize the printing of his writings. In their introduction to this book, the Vilna Bet Din affirmed that some of the Gra’s writings had been transcribed by people who were unsuited to do so.
This book is the first to be printed in Vilna with their consent, together with the Gra’s book, “Commentary on the Book of Jonah.”
