Letter handwritten and signed by Rebbe Shalom Moskovitch of Shotz. [London, Elul 1952].
Enclosed: letter handwritten and signed by his son Rebbe Yisrael Yaakov Moskovitch. [London, 1950].
Both letters are addressed to R. Zalman Eilbaum in Safed. Rebbe Shalom of Shotz writes: "I received your letter, yet there is not much to do, since every person thinks he is an only child, but there are many many only children…". The Rebbe concludes his letter with blessings for a good year with salvations in all areas.
Rebbe Shalom Moskovitch of Shotz (1877-1958). Rabbi of Shotz and teacher of R. Meir Shapiro of Lublin, founder of the Daf HaYomi. Rebbe in London from 1927. In his will, he pledged to arouse Heavenly mercy on whoever would visit his gravesite, light two candles in memory of his soul, and undertake to strengthen himself in a mitzva or in Torah study.
His son, R. Yisrael Yaakov Moskovitch, writer of the second letter, passed away in his father's lifetime in Tevet 1953.
