WEHRPASS HEER KIA IN RUSSIA
Wehrpass for Wehrmacht Obergefreiter Lorenz Franz with the 2./ Schuetzen-Regiment 79, born 10 March 1912, Viernheim, issued in Konstanz on 28 September 1936. Franz saw many battles, starting in September 1939 on the Western Front along the Rhein, Alsace, Eastern France, French occupation, Balkans, Romania, and Russia. He was shot in the left shoulder and injured his lungs on 25 November 1941 n Russia. Franz died of his injuries on 1 December 1941 and was buried at Jekaterinowka. He was awarded the Panzer Assault badge posthumously on 24 February 1942.
