Collection of Manuscripts "Ma'aseh Beit Din" - Sefrou, Morocco, the 18th and 19th Centuries - Rare, Important and Interesting!
Collection of Manuscripts "Ma'aseh Beit Din", which includes rulings, halachic responses and regulations of Western rabbis concerning laws related to Even Ha'Ezer and Choshen Mishpat, of the Beit Din of Sefrou.
Rulings, halachic responses and regulations of the most prominent Western rabbis, which were written or copied the Dayanim of Sefrou and rulings sent by other Moroccan rabbis to the Dayanim of Sefrou. Some of the ruling were printed in books by Moroccan rabbis, many of them with changes. The rulings and regulations served as an important auxiliary tool for the Dayanim of Morocco. Many of the rulings copied here are in the handwriting of the most prominent rabbis and Dayanim of Morocco.
Among the leaves there is a response regarding alimony sent to Sefrou, signed "Ha'Katan Tola'at Ya'akov…" This response is most likely in the handwriting of Rabbi Ya'akov Bardugo, who used to sign in such a manner in his responses.
The rulings and responses are justified by the Talmud and the Poskim. Most of the leaves are in the writing typical of the 18th-19th centuries. Several leaves are from the beginning of the 20th century. The leaves were written by different Dayanim. The leaves are undated. On one of the leaves it is written in later writing "Pesak Din Reb Petachya" - most likely Rabbi Petachya Bardugo.
A manuscript that is most important to the history of the Jews and rabbis of Morocco.
On single leaves there are footnotes in later writing. The footnotes are references to books which contain some of the rulings.
On the margins of one of the leaves, it is written: "Printed in Minchat Ha'Omer". The book "Minchat Ha'Omer" includes rulings on Arba'ah Turim by Rabbi Shlomo and his son Rabbi Amor Abitbul. Published by Rabbi David Ovadya (Djerba, 1950).
Rabbi Ya'akov Bardugo was one of the most prominent rabbis of Morocco, Rosh Av Beit Din of Meknes, Morocco, author of the "Shufraya De'Ya'akov" Responsa and "To'afot Re'em". Died in 1841.
