Leaf in the handwriting of Rabbi Elisha Halberstam of Gorlitz.
On the leaf, the Rebbe wrote the tractates he had been given as a gift by Mr. Pinchas Morgenstern. The Rebbe's signature appears four times (in pencil) as well as his stamp.
Rabbi Elisha Halberstam (1860-1940), the son of Rabbi Baruch of Gorlitz and the grandson of Rabbi Chaim Halbertstam, the author of the "Divrei Chaim", the founder of the Sanz Hassidism. The son-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Hornsteipl.
After the death of his father, Rabbi Elisha refused to become the Rebbe and discouraged Hassidim to bring him "Pitka'ot". However, some of the Sanz Hassidim turned to him and saw him as the replacer of his father. After the death of his brother, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Halberstam in 1918, he became Rosh Av Beit Din of Gorlitz. With the outbreak of World War II, he escaped to Sambor, from which he was exiled later to Siberia.
An extremely rare item. Was never seen in auctions.
13x21 cm.
Condition: Good. Tears with little omission at the margins with no damage to text.
