A study of Jewish burial customs by Johann Nicolai (1665-1708), a philologist and professor of classical studies at the Tübingen University. The book includes ten engravings depicting Jewish tombstones and graves (eight plates and two in-text engravings; one folded engraved plate is missing). Additional in-text illustrations and sketches. Three of the engravings integrate printed pieces of paper, which when lifted reveal the interior design of the crypts.
