"GEULA", "16 x 20, oil/palette knife, on canvas board. Framed, this piece is roughly 24 x 28. Brocha Teichman is a contemporary realist painter. She received her formal training at the Art Student's League in New York where she studied portraiture and still-life, spending over a decade perfecting her craft. About eight years ago Brocha opened an educational art studio in Lawrence, New York, on Long Island. Teaching some twelve to fifteen classes a week to nearly two hundred students serves to further strengthen her work. She credits her parents with being supportive and appreciative of her talents and feels strongly about nurturing that in her students.Committed to ongoing personal growth, Brocha has also spent much of the past five years branching out into painting 'en plein air',- outdoors, from direct observation. To this end, she spends as much time as possible outdoors with other artists and other master instructors. This year Brocha, with her business partner, Zelda Weiss, launched Paint New York! Art Workshops (www.paintnyartworkshops.com), with the intention of bringing the plein air movement to New York City to teach cityscape painting.Brocha enjoys painting the everyday, small, joyous moments of life, and capturing that essence on canvas in both her New York City series and her scenes of modern day Israel with it's ancient traditions. As a painter completely immersed and committed to her art, on both the level of creating and teaching, her career is one worth watching.
