Volume containing the Tanach and Five Megillot, with four more volumes bearing the Talmud Bavli, with the Tosefta. Published by Horev, New York/Berlin. The Tanach was printed in 1928, the Shas in 1925. Title pages in red ink, separate title page for each masechet and chumash. Stains, tears at the edges of some pages, bindings defective, overall fair condition. Seems to be a complete copy (not checked thoroughly).
The title pages have notes or stamps of ownership: “Ephraim Shmuel Lerner”, as well as his son, Rabbi Asher Lerner.
Rabbi Ephraim Shmuel Lerner (1879-1962) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai, he served as rosh yeshiva of the Ashkenazi kabbalistic yeshiva Sha’ar HaShamayim in Jerusalem, was a founder of the Sha’arei Chesed neighborhood there, and founded the Gra synagogue there and served there as chazan for many years.
Rabbi Asher Lerner (died 1992) was a rabbi of the Shaarei Chesed neighborhood, and a leader of the Gra synagogue after his father passed away.
