Gallery of Monsters (Musee des Horreurs): the Donkey. Poster number 7 of the series, which shows Zadok Kahn, the Chief Rabbi of France as an animal, cutting the tail of a pig. The series was printed at the time of the Dreyfus affair, and consisted of over 50 antisemitic posters that mocked Dreyfus and his supporters. Described in French. Paris, France, circa 1899. Framed. Approximately 65X50 cm (framed: 80X65 cm). Good-average condition, stains, tears to the margins, folding marks, wear. The poster was not examined out of frame.
