Efes Damim. A series of conversations at Jerusalem between a patriarch of the Greek church and a chief Rabbi of the Jews concerning the malicious charge against the Jews of using Christian blood. By J. B. Levinsohn. Translated from the Hebrew as a tribute to the memory of the martyrs at Damascus by Dr. L. Loewe. 22.5 cm. 208, xvi pages.
Efes Damim was edited by Yitzchak Ber Levinsohn, founder of the Haskala movement in Russia. The book was published in 1837. Upon the request of Sir Moses Montefiore and with his support, an English edition was published in 1841 in wake of the Damascus Blood Libel.
