J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, Ct. - Circa 1898 Pristine Plus Condition The imagery for this toy bank clearly derives from the military engagement between the United States and Spain in the spring months of 1898. Pennies carefully placed in the slot are deposited into the bank when the wooden missile shot from the cannon smashes the mast, ostensibly sinking the ship. The cannon power of the United States easily prevailed over the Spanish Navy.
