17-18th Century Carved Barberini Royal Coat Of Arms
Offered here is a large intricately carved coat of arms for the Italian nobility of the prominent Barberini family, whose ancestors include Cardinal Maffeo Barberini who ascended to the papal throne in 1623 as Pope Urban the VIII. The Barberini family coat of arms' unique characteristics includes the addition of bees incorporated in the design. The crown pediment draped with carvings simulating lavish cloth swags, braiding with tassels and bees. The crown is carved in the central area and a background simulating fur. Measures 39� tall and 29� wide.
