A long band of linen sewn in two sections. Of traditional style, skillfully and humorously painted. Commemorating the birth of Shmuel ben Reuven (“aka Robert Zelig”) on Wednesday 19th Iyar, 1942. Text all in Hebrew. Length: 138 inches (350.5 cm).

Includes the following unusual features: * Records the baby is the grandson of Baruch ben Kalonymus Zelig of Frankfurt a/Main, one of the founders of Congregation Shaarei Tikva. * Records the baby’s birth date to be the Yohrzeit of the great rabbi, the Maharam of Rothenburg (1293). * The Hebrew letter lamed - making up the work Nolad (born) - incorporating image of a long-necked stork. * The verse from Psalms (133.1) “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together!” - features national flags of the World War II allies, the United States and Great Britain. * Rabbinic quotations encouraging acts of charity, kindness and prayer. * Image of Torah Scroll features name of synagogue community (indecipherable). * Final image of an elder blessing a child, with the greetings: “Gut Shabbes, Gut Yom-Tov, Shalom!”
