W.P. Van Ed Signed Original Oil Painting Clown
Thick layers of oil are masterfully built up in this impressionist-style painting of a clown. Signed lower right. Back of canvas reads "Original Prof. Wp. Van Ed".
Walter Prescher Van Ed studied at the Art Academy in Dresden, where he was a student of K. Enderlein and P. Rossler. In 1948 he received the title of professor from the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, and was then Associate Professor at the Dresden Art Academy. In 1961 he was a visiting professor at the College of Fine Arts in Nancy. Ed van Prescher was an honorary citizen of Montmartre. In Prague, he attended the master class of Oskar Kokoschka.
