Likkutei Amarim, the Tanya, scarce printing published by Rabbi Schneur Zalman Shmotkin—Warsaw-Vilna 1937.

Likkutei Amarim, the Tanya by the Admor HaZaken, with the Igeret HaTshuva and Kodesh, with a title page not noting the place or year of printing. The National Library (where it is in the Rare Books section) claims it was printed by “Book Trading House Schneur Zalman Shmotkin Warsaw”, and the Bibliography of the Tanya by Yehoshua Mundschein lists its year as 1937. The Lubavitch Library lists it as being printed in Vilna by the Ram widow and brothers. Tanya printing #41. Original: [1], 163 leaves. This copy is missing the page before the title page. Stains, title page and an additional page are detached, overall good condition.

Rabbi Schneur Zalman Shmotkin was a founder of the Tomchei Temimim yeshiva in Warsaw and served in its administration. He was also a member of the Ma’arechet HaTamim. At the end of his life he had a book business called “Beis Mechiras Sefarim Schneur”. After the Rayatz left Russia, he gave him a number of boxes of religious manuscripts. When a fire broke out in his home destroying all of his possessions, Rabbi Shmotkin was able to save the Rebbe’s manuscripts at the expense of his personal wealth, which caused the Rayatz great satisfaction. He died al kiddush hashem in 1942.
