Rare: miniature Tanya printed in the Great Synagogue of Moscow with the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Likkutei Amarim Tanya, a foundational Chassidic work by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liady, the Baal HaTanya (after this work), also known as the Admor Zaken. Miniature edition printed in Moscow, the capital of the Soviet Union, in 1992, with the fall of the Iron Curtain after many years in which the Jewish community suffered, especially the Chabad chassidim. Throughout the Communist rule the Rebbe refused to allow the printing of the Tanya in the USSR from a fear that he would endanger the local Jews,

but during Cheshvan of 1991, while handing out dollars, he spoke to Rabbi Zalman Khanin and Rabbi Leibel Zeinitz, who quickly worked to print the Tanya around the USSR. This Tanya is the first one printed, at the Great Synagogue in Moscow, and the printer’s mark is written in an interesting handwriting to mark that this copy was handed out as a gift in the wedding of Yitzhak and Miriam Scheiner on the 26th of Adar II, 1992.

Original binding, prettily done with inscriptions in Hebrew and Russian, moisture stains and light defects. Overall good condition. Edition #3999 in Tanya printings.
