[Alexander Vasilyevich Pogozhev (1853-1913) - Russian sanitary doctor, statistician, publicist, author of numerous works on labor statistics, factory legislation, occupational hygiene, and industrial medicine.

In 1879-1885, under the leadership of Professor F. F. Erisman, together with E. M. Dementiev, he conducted a large survey of the sanitary condition of factories and factories in the Moscow province.

In 1902-1903, Pogozhev was the editor of the first Russian journal of occupational health — "Industry and Health". Working in 1903-1905 in the Central Statistical Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he prepared a major study "Accounting for the number and composition of workers in Russia" (1906) — a valuable source for studying the composition of the industrial proletariat of Russia at the beginning of the XX century. This work was published by the Imperial Academy of Sciences on the initiative of Academician I. I. Yanzhul and received a large gold medal of the Russian Geographical Society.]
