Fine Invitation by the High Commissioner Herbert Samuel to the Wedding of His Son Edwin Herbert

Samuel was the first British High Commissioner for Palestine during the British Mandate. He was a Jew whose Hebrew name was Eliezer Samuel. Immediately when the British received the mandate for Palestine, he was appointed colonial minister of the British government and later the High Commissioner for Palestine. He arrived in Palestine in winter 1920 and held the positon for five years,

Several weeks after he came to Palestine, his son Edwin married Hadassa, the daughter of the Hebrew educator, linguist and lexicographer Yehuda Gur (Grozovsky).

Before us is a magnificent invitation in silver ink to the wedding which took place at 'Beit Hamemshalah' (The Goverment House), addressed to Rabbi Yechiel Michel Tukachinsky with a 'pass' note.

[2] leaves thick paper. Size of invitation - 18.5 cm. Size of note 13.5X9.5 cm.
