The German People Iron Bank
Made by Eduard Lachmann Circa Late 1890's - 4 3/4" T. Unlike the brass Danish examples, this scarce German coin box is made of cast iron. The old proverb on the facade of the building "Jung Gewohnt, Alt Gethan" translates into English as "once learned, never forgotten", a terrific sentiment for learning the virtue of saving.
