One Seat Open Carriage Tin Toy
Made by Merriam Mfg. Company of Durham, Ct. - 1880's - 14" Long. Merriam also made horses with cloud-shaped tails and flowing manes, as we see here. They developed techniques with translucent glazes, becoming specialists in the art of tin staining. This fine carriage toy uses a gold stain for the horse and an aubergine stain for the vehicle. Most effective and very charming.
