Ir Dovid. Amsterdam 1719.

Sermons on various topics by R. Dovid Lydia. With mention in the introduction of the Polish- Ottoman war of 1670 and the resulting suffering of the Jewish community of Lvov.

R. Dovid Lydia (1630-1697), was a nephew of R. Moshe Rivkes (Be’er Ha’Golah) and a talmid of Rebbe, R. Heschel of Cracow. Known as great Mekubal and Darshan, he served as Rav in numerous important Polish communities before his appointment as Rov of the Ashkenazic community of Amsterdam. His tenure in Amsterdam was tumultuous; he was accused of Sabbateanism and was forced to leave. Eventually he was absolved of wrongdoing by the “Council of the Four Lands” and returned to Amsterdam.
With many important approbations, which reflect the esteem in which he was held.
Vinograd Amsterdam 1144. Shlomo Proops press. [1], 3-107 pages. 31.5 cm. Fine-very fine condition.
