Exciting letter on the subject of Shmirat Shabbat in the town of Chernowitz, sent to the Admor Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Heschel of Kopichnitz. Chernowitz 1912(?).
Letter on the struggle over the keeping of Shabbos in the town of Chernowitz, from the secretary of the Agudas Yisrael in Chernowitz to the Admor Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Heschel of Kopichnitz. The year is estimated based on a verse which appears at the top of the letter, but does not accord with the founding of the Agudas Yisrael.
Rabbi Meir complains about some people who, it had been heard, come sometimes to the chatzer of the Admor and they are mechalelei shabbat. He asks the Admor to send them telegrams (telling them not to come?) before the next Shabbat so that the Shabbos observance in the city can be reinforced.
Long letter filled with nice rhetoric and written in nice handwriting. 22x26cm. Creases, good condition.
