Silk Embroidery - Victory of the Allies - WWI
Trench art work, embroidered with silk, apparently made by a soldier who participated in the British Army campaigns in the Middle East in World War One. At the center of the work is the crest of the British crown with the motto of the Monarch of the United Kingdom: Dieu et mot droit. Flags of the allies are embroided as well, including the flag of Great Britian, France, Japan, and Russia. The lands which were conquered during the war are embroidered on the sides: Palestine, Mesopotamia, Egypt and Africa. At the bottom is a photo of the soldier, with the dedication: From Ark to all at home. Circa 1917.
Approximately 60X54 cm. Average condition, tears, creases, wear.
