The front page shows an illustration of Alfred Dreyfus appearing before the council of war on his pardon hearing.
The back page shows an illustration of Dreyfus' lawyer appearing before the council and pleading his case.
This hearing is the aftermath of the Dreyfus affair in which the Jewish officer Dreyfus was wrongfully accused and convicted for treason and espionage.
In these hearings he was pardoned and in 1906 he was acquitted completely from all charges.
