A Japanese Black and Gold Lacquer Jubako
Edo Period, w ith four stacked boxes and two covers, decorated with chrysanthemums and with a persimmon lacquer interior. Jubakos are Japanese food boxes used for special occasions such as new year. 13 1/2in. high, 9 3/4in. wide and 9 1/4in. deep.
