A photo album from the illegal immigration camps in Cyprus, 1946-1949. Including 18 large photographs (12.5x17 cm) and 88 smaller photographs (6x9 cm). Rare photographs presenting the everyday life in the detention camps:
Tents, watchtowers and barbwire fences; agricultural work; "physical education" and fitness exercises in the camp; a Brith ceremony, taking care of the children; group photographs; the pharmacy and medical center, the showers, celebrating Jewish Holidays, Golda Meir's visit to the camps and more.
The photos are in good condition. Given on cardboard paper (not glued to paper). Most of the photographs bear the mark of the studio: Hanan photos or Photo Heinrich.
Given in a fabric covered cardboard album. Dimensions of the album: 21x29 cm. Album in medium condition.
