Before us is a rare and important copy of the machzor in the nusach of Edut HaMizrach (Jerusalem 1968), that was used by our Holy Rebbe, Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzira, the Baba Sali, may his merit protect us. Among the pages of the machzor, one can notice the tears of the tsaddik that fell during his prayers. Among the pages of the brachot of the Four Cups of Wine from Pesach, there are wine stains from drops over the course of the Seder that the Baba Sali himself led, signs of use in many additional places as well. Inside the anterior binding the Baba Sali wrote by hand the pasuk “May mountains bear peace to the nation, and hills—through righteousness” (Psalms 72:3). The page before the cover page has the handwritten signature and stamp “Yisrael Abuhatzira from Arpod and its surroundings” in Hebrew and the local language. Inside the rear binding Rabbeinu wrote by hand verses related to the Shalosh Regalim “with happiness and ditzot you will celebrate the Festival of Matzah [Pesach].” “On Shavuot you will sacrifice a new Minchah.” “In Sukkot you will dwell seven days.” With an elegiac ending, the Baba Sali asks from Hashem “The harvest follows summer and we have not yet been redeemed. You sentence the Redemption, may it be established.” In addition his handwritten signature appears again. The machzor has new leather binding glued on the original binding, and is engraved: “from the books of the Rav of the community of Sidna, Baba Sali.”
