L.S., Friedrich, one page, 4to, Berlin, 18th February 1741, to his Minister of State [Samuel Von] Marschall, in German. The King writes to von Marschall in regard to his report of the 16th Februray 'relating to the two known portraits' and confirms that 'I have given the order to the Treasury council to pay the expenditure of 13660 Taler from our budget.´ With blank integral leaf. About EXSamuel von Marschall (1683-1749) Prussian Finance Minister who served under both Frederick I and Frederick II. Marschall was one of the most important political figures of his time.Frederick the Great's most significant accomplishments during his 46 year reign (the longest of any Hohenzollern King) include his military victories, his reorganization of Prussian armies, his patronage of the arts and the Enlightenment in Prussia, as well as his final success in the Seven Years' War, against great odds.
