Shulchan Aruch HaRav – Zhitomir, 1847 – Edition of Rabbi Chaim Avraham, Son of the Baal HaTanya – First Edition of the 23 New Responsa – Unknown Leaf of Errata – Complete Set

Shulchan Aruch HaRav, by Rebbe Shneur Zalman of Liadi – the Baal HaTanya. Zhitomir: R. Chanina Lipa, R. Aryeh Leib and R. Yehoshua Heshel Shapira, grandsons of the rabbi of Slavita, 1847. Six parts in six volumes.
This edition was published by R. Chaim Avraham, son of the author, the Baal HaTanya, with the assistance of his descendants. This edition includes new additions to Kuntres Acharon and to the sources, from the author's manuscript. It also includes 23 new responsa in the responsa section. Furthermore, for the first time, the Kuntres Acharon is printed in the margins and not at the end of the book.
Stamps in Hebrew and Latin characters on front endpaper of Yoreh De'ah vol.: "Moshe Freund Satmar", "Mauritiu Freund, Satu-Mare" – presumably the stamps of R. Moshe Aryeh Freund (1904-1996), later head of the Edah HaCharedit.

Vol. V: [1], 2-38 leaves. Vol. VI: [1], 2-44, [1] leaves. 20-22.5 cm. Good to good-fair condition. Stains and dampstains. Significant dampstains to last two volumes, with traces of past dampness and minor mold stains. Wear to some leaves. Minor worming. Minor open tears to several leaves. Leaves trimmed, with damage to headings in several places. Stamps and handwritten inscriptions. New bindings.
Additional copies of vols. I and III enclosed, to complete lacking leaves (vol. I: [7], 5-175 leaves. Lacking final leaf. Extensive worming with significant damage. Vol. III: 110-111, 113-138; 106, [1] leaves. Lacking many leaves at beginning).
Stefansky Chassidut, no. 573.
