Early Handwritten Transcription - Important Letter Including Guidance from a First-Rate Rabbi and Leader
Large handwritten leaf, early transcription from an unknown rabbi, in which he instructs his disciples how to repent and how to conduct themselves in life. This rabbi is unidentified, but it is clear that he is an important first-rate rabbi of great Torah stature. Inscribed at the top of the leaf: "וארוכתך מהרה תצמח לפ"ק" - a chronogram indicating the year 1778. This date may be part of the original letter, or it may have been added later.
"I received this letter and saw that you gathered together to search and research, and you have investigated thoroughly. Indeed something abominable has occurred, and you have inquired as to what to do with each one according to the Law ... These days of Shovevi"m Ta"t are most auspicious ... My teachers have aroused and instructed with all their might to make fences in every way possible ..."
[1] large leaf, written on both sides. Maximum dimensions: 21x34 cm.
Fine condition. Aging stains. Fold marks. Uncut edges. Small holes in the fold mark.
