'Gam Eleh Divrei David' Copy with Exceptional Pedigree. Signatures, Stamps and Glosses

Gam Eleh Divrei David - final book by the renowned gaon Rabbi David Tevele Katzellenbogen av beit din of Leningrad. Leningrad, 1928. Copy that belonged to two Lithuanian geonim who served as rabbis in the United States. Signatures, stamps and an important biographical gloss.

At the top of the title page are the personal signatures of two Lithuanian geonim who both served in the Slutzk rabbinate and then served at the end of their lives in rabbinic positions in the United States. One stamp is that of the gaon Rabbi "Dov Yehudah Diena son of Rabbi Zundel Salanter ztz"l, rabbi of Canarsie in Brooklyn, NY, previously dayan and moreh hora'ah in Slutzk." The second stamp is that of the gaon "Rabbi Yosef son of the gaon Rabbi Meir z"l Feimer of Slutzk."

In the margins of the title page, there is a lengthy self-dedication handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Yosef Freimer: "This book is a consolation to me, a gift of love from the dear and honorable H. Avraham Meyers on the eve of Wednesday, 24 Kislev, 1929 Boro-Park. Yosef son of the gaon Meir z"l Feinmer of Slutzk." Likewise, on the jacket cover, under Rabbi David Tevele's name the gaon Rabbi Yosef Freimer added a biographical note about the book's author, as follows "The rabbi, the author, z"l, passed away in Leningrad on Monday of the week Shemot is read, 14 Tevet 1931, Morgen Journal Wednesday Shemot 18 Tevet 1931 and Thursday 19 Shevat 1931."

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the author, the gaon Rabbi David Tevele Katzenellenbogen and the book's owners, the gaon Rabbi Yosef Freimer and the gaon Rabbi Dov Yehudah Deina, as well as the person who gifted the book, the naggid Rabbi Avraham Meyers.
