Sephardi Handwriting with the Signatures of the Great Yememite Sages. 1919
[1] leaf written on both sides. 21x27 cm.
A document written in Sephardi handwriting regarding upholding a will. The document is from the date 12/24/1919, and is signed with the handwritten signatures of three of the great Yemenite scholars:
Rabbi Yitzchak HaCohen [a native of Aden, served in the Beit Din of Aden headed by Rabbi Banin son of Rabbi Menachem Mosh Shemesh as Dayan and Av Beit Din for over forty years],
Rabbi Meshumar son of Rabbi Shmuel Nissim of the 19th century. The well-known tourist Avraham ben Moshe Arusi who visited Yemen during his period describes him: if all of the scholars of Yemen and Eden were on one side of the scale and he was on the other, Meshumar would overcome them all. The signature of Rabbi Shiloh Yosef also appears.
Enclosed is material about the will before us, and about the Rabbis who signed on it.
Fine condition.
