PLEYEL CAMILLE: (1788-1855) French Pianist, a virtuoso, who owned the Pleyel & Cie. Pleyel ran the concerts Salle Pleyel where Chopin played the first and the last of his concerts in Paris. Pleyel provided pianos to Chopin whose Nocturnes op.9 were dedicated to Madame Camille Pleyel, Marie, pianist and wife of Pleyel. A fine A.L.S., Camille Pleyel, with flourish, one page, 8vo, blue paper, Paris, 25th February 1854, to Monsieur Goria, in French. Pleyel responds to his correspondent´s letter stating in part `I receive together with your message, Mr. Deldevez´ invitation, and although I would have liked to attend it, even more because his piano works will be played by yourself, my doctor is inflexible regarding my health..´ With blank integral leaf. Upper edge with small tear and age toning, discoloured, although not affecting the text or signature. G to VG Alexandre Goria (1823-1860) French virtuoso Pianist and Composer.
