DWERNICKI JOZEF: (1779-1857) Polish General of Cavalry who participated in the November Uprising (1830-31). A.L.S., Dwernicki, one page, 8vo, Rue de l'Odeon, [Paris], 30th May 1844, to a gentleman, evidently a doctor, in French. The General explains that his wife is pregnant and that he has been twice to try and meet his correspondent to request their assistance in the childbirth but has not had the luck to find him at home, further asking him to come tomorrow morning at 11am to examine her in order to decide if she is healthy enough to go the countryside for a few weeks before giving birth. A few very minor, light creases and one small tear to the lower edge, otherwise VG
