METTERNICH PRINCE KLEMENS VON: (1773-1859) Politician and Statesman, one of the most important diplomats of his era. Austrian Empire's Foreign Minister and Chancellor 1821-48. A good L.S., `Le Prince de Metternich´, one page, folio, Paris, 19th October 1815, to Monsieur Celz, in French. Metternich, in his capacity as `Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of his Imperial and Royal Apostolic Majesty´, states `
The Emperor, my Master, has decided to grant the authorization to get the title of Gardener nurseryman of his Imperial Majesty.´ Metternich refers to his Majesty, Holy Roman Emperor Francis II, later Emperor of Austria Francis I. The document bears a good red wax seal to the left border. With overall staining to the bottom half front page not affecting the text or signature. Very small tear to the upper edge. With blank integral leaf. G to VG The present letter is written only three days after Napoleon landed at Saint Helena.
