Holy copy! Sefer Oneg Shabbas Drushim for Sabbath and Jewish festivals, authored by the Chassid Rabbi Moshe Holter of Chenstochov and which was given by him as a gift to his Rav the holy Gaon Rabbi Yechzkel of Ostrovtza, one of the greatest Chassidic Tzaddikim.
On the external cardboard binding it was written: 'This Sefer is given as a gift by the Rav the author to the holy Admor the holy Gaon Shalita of Ostrovtza'. On the inside title page, the author himself wrote: 'The Rav Av Beis Din of Ostrovtza Shalita. His disciple Moshe ben Chaya Yenta'.
Inside the Sefer, stamps of the renowned important Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Fischel Cohen, Rav Av Beis Din of the Neveh Sha'anan neighborhood of Tel Aviv, an important disciple of the Rav of Oztrovtza and of the holy Rav the Avnei Nezer of Sochatchov, one of the greatest rabbis of Tel Aviv and an important Ger Chassid.
On the Sefer, several corrections handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Fischel Cohen.
The Sefer 'Oneg Shabbas' is rare and important being a compilation of sermons delivered by Rabbi Moshe Holter at the great synagogue on Allenby St. in Tel Aviv, in the city's early days, during the 'Oneg Shabbas' parties which became customary and which were attended by pioneers and non-religious residents of the town too, including Meir Dizengoff, one of the founders of Tel Aviv and its first mayor, and the poet Chaim Nachman Bialik. In time, they called the religious residents of Tel Aviv and its vicinity to continue the custom of 'Oneg Shabbas' and observe the Sabbath, stating that 'We observe the Sabbath and it will protect us'.
A significant part of the call of non-religious leaders to observe the Sabbath can be attributed to the wonderful sermons delivered by Rabbi Moshe Holter during those 'Oneg Shabbas' parties and in which he praised the virtue of observing the Sabbath and pleaded with his listeners to observe it.
