Sefer Nachalah LeYehoshua - Kushta, 1731 - first edition - the copy of Rabbi Shlomo of Chelmo author of Mirkeves HaMishneh and of Rabbi Aryeh Leibush Halevi Horowitz author of Harei Besamim.

Sefer Nachalah LeYehoshua, responsa and innovations on tractates Eruvin and Shvu'os, by Rabbi Yehoshua Tzuntzin, one of the rabbis of Izmir. Kushta, [1731]. Yonah ben Yaakov [Ashkenazi] Press. First edition.

On the upper part of the title page, an ownership notation (partly trimmed): "Belons to the sharp renowned Rav [...] Shlomo Av Beis Din and Moreh Tzeddek of Tishvitz" - apparently, this is the copy of Rabbi Shlomo of Chelmo author of the Mirkeves HaMishneh, from the time he served as Rav in Tyszowce (see below).

On the lower part of the title page, stamp of the Gaon author of Harei Besamim: "Aryeh Leibush Horowitz Av Beis Din of Stanislav and the vicinity 1711".

An additional signature on the title page: "Yechiel ben ... Nissan..."


The Gaon Rabbi Shlomo of Chelmo (1716-1781) one of the renowned Geonim of Poland. Already in his youth he was appointed as Rav of the important city of Chelmo - Chełm. In 1751, his great Sefer, Mirkeves haMishneh, on Mishneh Torah by the Rambam, was published and since then he was renowned as one of the Gedolei Torah of his generation. When he served as Rav of Chelm, he also served as the representative of the town in "Va'ad Arbah HaAratzos" and in this framework, settled the dispute between Rabbi Yonoson Eibeschutz and Rabbi Yaakov Emden. Was also involved in the affair of the Gett of Kliva. After almost thirty years as Rav of Chelm, he moved to serve as Rav in his hometown of Zamoshtz and then was appointed the Rav of Lvov. In his old age, in 1779, he arrived in Turkey on his way to Eretz Yisroel.


The Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leibush Horowitz (1846-1909), author of Shut Harei Besamim, 5 sections. One of the greatest Geonim and Poskim of Galicia. The beloved grandson of the Gaon Rabbi Meshulam Yissachar Horowitz Av Beis Din of Stanislav and the son of the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Horowitz author of Toldos Yitchak and Me'ah She'arim. Served as Rav in Zolozitz, Bistritz and Stanislav. In his youth, he followed the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. 



The Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Landau (1893-1986), the admired Rav of Bnei Berak. After his father's passing, he succeeded him under the influence of the Rabbi the Rashab. In Russia, he headed several Torah and Chassidus institutions and worked for supporting religious life. Was close to the Rashab, the Rayatz and the Rogatchover Gaon. In 1934 he immigrated to the Holy Land and was appointed the Rav of Ramatayim (eventually, Hod HaSharon) and after a short period was appointed the Rav of Bnei Berak, a position he held for dozens of years until his passing.

Open tears to the title page (affecting its border and slightly affecting the text on the reverse side of the title page) and open tears to the margins of additional leaves, with gluing of paper for restoration and reinforcement. Moth signs on many leaves, affecting the text. Stamps. Handwritten notations. Old binding. Fair condition
